Elisa Freeman is a Vermont-based artist working in a variety of media with a focus on drawing and painting. In her work, colorful and detailed insects and organic forms from the natural world are placed in spaces where the recognizable world intersects with a more abstract or dream-like world. Although her early work was mainly figurative, humans have stepped out of the frame but psychological elements in these mind-spaces suggest human presence in some form. Elisa’s practice often results in work that depicts a quiet space where she can reflect on the many thoughts constantly swirling in her mind including current events, childhood memories, and her daily life and role as a mother. She works largely in oil paint and colored pencils.

Elisa has a BS from Skidmore College and studied Painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
